Northrop Sustainability Section

We acknowledge that we live, work and play in buildings, spending more than 80% of our time indoors. Hence, we have established a brand of being building specialists and the industry-leading trusted advisors (self-proclaimed).

The Sustainability Section is going through a growth phase, with a strong desire to service projects across sustainable communities, green building design, existing building performance and health & wellbeing.

Sustainability Consultant

As a Sustainability Consultant you will develop and deliver modern, customised and commercially viable solutions for our clients. You will also contribute to the overall expertise of the team ensuring that we have access to the latest sustainability solutions.

In this key role - within a team that will grow significantly over the next 12 months, you will work on a wide range of challenging projects with a variety of clients.

Key accountabilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering projects across the commercial / education /industrial / residential / retail / healthcare and aged care sectors in a quality, cost effective and efficient manner;
  • Liaising directly with clients and running projects to meet client's needs and exceed their expectations.
  • Continuous professional education. We provide endless training opportunities. We expect you to use this training not only to enhance your own career, but also to deliver client solutions and establish the Section as the experts in Green Building Design and the ‘go to’ Sustainability Practice in Australia.
  • Nurturing existing and building new client relationships.

You are invited to apply for this role if you meet the following criteria:

  • Experience – It is required that you have 5 + years’ experience as a Sustainability consultant in the built environment consulting field, with relevant ESD experience. Knowledge of local standards and building codes essential.
  • Education / Qualifications - Relevant tertiary qualifications in Sustainability or Engineering. Accreditation and experience with Greenstar, NABERS, WELL, and BASIX are desirable.
  • Autonomous Productivity - Ability to be highly productive with periodic direct management and with little oversight from senior management.
  • Teamwork - Works collaboratively with others including across functional groups.
  • Accountability - Sets goals and drives to their fulfilment.
  • Communication - Able to speak and write clearly, concisely, and compellingly. You will also need to use your written and verbal communication skills to influence people’s decisions, actions and vision.
  • Connecting - Able to find common ground and gain personal and professional trust.
  • Analytical and Strategic Thinking - Ability to analyse and read situations well.
  • Leadership - Always focused on doing what’s right for the business.
  • Creative Problem Solving - Continually finds ways to overcome challenges and obstacles.
